Anti-war poetic action. Liberation from fear, in seven songs.
The performance is based on the play “Seven Jewish Children” by contemporary British playwright Caryl Churchill, which will be performed in Russian for the first time. Written as a reaction to the military conflict in Gaza in 2009 (Operation Cast Lead), Churchill's text is close in form to prayer, but unlike it, it must be spoken publicly.
The story of a Jewish girl, invisible to the viewer, exists as a metonymy, expanding with each act: seven Jewish children turn into all the children of the world, destined to survive a brush with death.
Maxim Didenko’s acutely political production becomes a prepared improvisation, unbearably relevant in today’s reality, always unbearably relevant until the answer to the question appears: how to tell children that adults are murderers who are desperately afraid to die?
