The Drystone was a protheatrical association founded by Maxim Didenko in St Petersburg in 2010 – a company of young performers he taught and worked with.
Its home was Mesto, a squat in the abandoned engineering depot – a twelve-storey tower – of the former Kalinin arms factory at 4 Uralskaya Street, Vasilyevsky Island. Next door the factory was still producing howitzers.
The company experimented constantly: dozens of performances, actions and collaborations with musicians. Anton Adasinsky took part in one of the actions, as did Valentin Tszin and his butoh company. A time of creative freedom and fearless experiment.
