“The White Factory” spans several decades. Its hero, Yosef Kaufman, a Holocaust survivor from Łódź, tries to start over in nineteen-sixties Brooklyn, but the war won’t let him go.

The world première was a collaboration among Ukrainian, Russian, and British artists, led by the writer Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of the best-selling “Metro 2033,” and the director Maxim Didenko—both political exiles and outspoken opponents of the war against Ukraine.

It is a drama of love, endurance, despair, and hope that follows one man from the Łódź ghetto of the nineteen-forties to the America of the sixties, where every attempt at a new life is tested by the ghosts of the past.
